EXTREME FIRE DANGER in the Upper Hunter

A heightened alert across the Upper Hunter this morning with a TOTAL FIRE BAN in place until midnight.

An EXTREME FIRE DANGER rating is forecast for today with blazes hard to bring under control if ignited.

Temps to reach 35 in Singleton and 33 in Muswellbrook and Scone.

NSWRFS Liverpool Plains District Superintendent Paul McGrath said the local landscape is extremely dry.

All fire permits previously issued to landholders for today have been suspended.

Meanwhile….Another call out for fire crews to The Common in Muswellbrook overnight.

Firefighters also fighting a grass fire at Castle Rock near Kayuga and 26 hectares of land have been burned at Davis Creek, east of Rouchel.

All three blazes are listed as under control on the RFS website.
