Upper Hunter Shire Council intends to operate with one less Councillor for the next several months.
That’s the plan following a six-minute Extraordinary Meeting last night where Councillors voted to ask the Minister to dispense with the need for a by-election to fill this vacancy left by the sacking of Elizabeth Flaherty.
The vacancy followed Councillor Flaherty’s absence at three consecutive ordinary Council meetings.

The next council election will be held in September.
Councillor Flaherty has requested a review of the decision by the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
