1600 Upper Hunter homes will be plunged into darkness tomorrow night and it will be on purpose.
The scheduled blackout will occur in Merriwa and Baerami so repairs can be made to the grid.
Ausgrid said it is the result of multiple copper thefts over the past year.

10pm tomorrow till 3am Sunday has been set down for the work.
