Muswellbrook Mayor Jeff Drayton said he is extremely disappointed the State Government has knocked back their application to have all the recent earthquake activity in the shire declared a Natural Disaster.
The news comes amidst local residents being refused claims by their insurers to repair damage caused by the initial 4.7 shake and subsequent 30-odd aftershocks.
Councillor Drayton said it seems incredible that not one insurance claim in the wake of the earthquakes has been successful.

He said the council rejects the government’s claim that the event did not meet “eligible disaster” criteria.
