A ‘please explain’ request to Upper Hunter Shire Council over the draining of the town’s dam.
It’s believed the level of the reservoir was reduced from around eight metres to just one sometime over the past month.
A number of local residents have contacted newly elected local councillor Peter McGill over the past 24 hours to complain about the move, which the council had wanted to do to save several hundred thousands of dollars a year on maintenance.
Water has been piped into the town since locals had to use bottled water during the last drought.
Councillor McGill said the community has been waiting to hear back from the council following a public meeting almost a year ago.
