‘Merriwa Helipad War’ allegedly turns poisonous

A man at war with Merriwa residents over his bid to gain approval for a private helipad has been accused of spraying Roundup on three locals and a neighbour’s garden.

47-year-old John McFadden is facing three charges in Muswellbrook Local Court including two of spraying people with the chemical pesticide in October last year.

Representing himself…Mr McFadden entered NOT GUILTY pleas and will face a hearing next year.

The Pyrmont man has appealed to the Land and Environment Court after Upper Hunter Shire Council rejected his development application for a helipad in his front yard on King George the Fifth Avenue.
