EXCLUSIVE – Two men arrested over alleged Muswellbrook home invasion

A breakthrough in the police investigation into an alleged violent home invasion in Muswellbrook earlier this year.

Police say a group of people wearing balaclavas burst into a property in Forbes Street in the early hours of March 4 brandishing weapons including a machete.

Detectives have now arrested two men from Wellington in the state’s Central West in connection to the alleged incident.

28-year-old Anthony Smith and 20-year-old Stephen Amatto have each been charged with seven offences including robbery with a weapon in company and specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence being wounding.

The home’s four occupants were hospitalised and two pet dogs required emergency vet care after the alleged incident.

The matter was listed in Muswellbrook Local Court yesterday where bail was refused and the case adjourned to next month.
