Court rejects Scone attacker’s appeal

A man jailed for attacking a young woman as she walked home from a Scone club has lost an appeal against the severity of his sentence.

26-year-old Solomon Islands national Nicholas Daota was jailed for 18 months in March by Magistrate Kevin Hockey.

But the Herald reports District Court Judge Troy Anderson, SC, yesterday dismissed the appeal telling the meat worker he “needs to spend time in jail to reflect on his conduct and serve as a warning to other people”.
