Two men charged following Upper Hunter rural crime investigation

Two men have been charged following an investigation into stolen motor vehicles, diesel theft and rural property crime across the Upper Hunter.

Detectives from the Rural Crime Prevention Team attached to the Hunter Valley Police District attended a property on Falbrook Road near Singleton on Wednesday April 22. Police allegedly located a stolen Toyota Hilux four‑wheel‑drive at the premises, with a 1000‑litre IBC containing about 500 litres of diesel secured in the tray.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the address, with officers recovering additional stolen property including a black Kawasaki motorcycle, a portable water cart and hose reel trailer, a rooftop tent with accessories, and items linked to a 2024 break and enter at Denman.

A 26‑year‑old man was charged with three counts of being carried in conveyance, larceny, two counts of driving while disqualified, goods in custody and an outstanding warrant. He was refused bail and is due to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on June 2.

A second man, aged 30, was charged with five counts of goods in custody and being carried in conveyance. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Singleton Local Court on June 11.
