Singleton households will soon receive a new roll of FOGO caddy liners, following a strong first year of the kerbside food and garden organics service that has already diverted more than 2,100 tonnes of organic waste from landfill.
More than 9,300 households currently receive waste services across the Singleton Local Government Area, with council reporting a 44.9 per cent increase in organic waste diversion this financial year compared to the same period last year. At the same time, general waste sent to landfill through red‑lid bins has dropped by more than 28 per cent.
Singleton Council Manager Waste and Circular Economy Aaron Malloy said the results reflected strong community participation.
“FOGO has been a big change in how we manage organic waste at home, and our community has absolutely stepped up,” he said.
“These results clearly show that our residents are not only adapting but actively reducing waste to landfill and making better use of their organic waste.”
Council will begin delivering a free replacement roll of 150 compostable caddy liners to each household from this week. Urban households will receive their liners in the coming weeks, while rural properties can expect deliveries from mid‑to-late‑June.
