Residents across parts of the Upper Hunter may notice helicopters flying in their area over the coming days, as electricity network operator Transgrid carries out routine aerial inspections of its transmission infrastructure.
The helicopter patrols are scheduled to run from Thursday 18 June to Wednesday 25 June, subject to weather conditions. The inspections allow Transgrid’s linespersons to visually assess the condition of transmission towers and lines from the air.
Communities in the Singleton, Muswellbrook, Denman, Sandy Hollow, Merriwa, Kerrabee and Bylong areas are among those likely to see helicopters operating in or near their location during the inspection period.
Transgrid says the aerial patrols are a routine part of its network management, helping to identify any safety risks and determine what maintenance work may be required to keep the electricity network safe and reliable.
