Greens join call for Hunter Valley transition body

The Greens say the Hunter Valley’s coal mining companies should be slugged an extra 500-million dollars a year to fund a transition authority for our region.

The party joining Upper Hunter councils call for a statutory body to be established to help establish new economies before coal is phased out.

Greens Upper Hunter candidate Tony Lonergan said the only ones that don’t seem to support the idea is the State Government and the miners.
