Just as the Singleton Strikers were getting used to their new home, they’ve been forced to re-locate.
Singleton Council have confirmed that the oval, which re-opened un Feburary after a $8.17 million upgrade, will be closed for much,, if not all, of the season, due to safety concerns on all three fields.
The upgrades to the oval included three full-sized irrigated soccer fields, a modern gender-neutral amenities building, enhanced lighting, new footpaths and improved parking.
Work on the project began August 2024, which forced the Singleton Strikers Football Club to play at alternative locations during the 2025 season. Once again, the club have been re-located.
A Singleton Council spokesperson said training and formal competition at Alroy Oval was suspended due to ongoing concerns regarding the condition of the playing surfaces across all three fields.
“Investigations are currently underway to determine both the technical cause of the issues and associated contractual implications, including identification of an appropriate remediation approach,” they said.
“Council has also requested further information from user groups to identify any additional measures that may be required to support the longer-term use of alternative venues.”
