Communities across the New England and Upper Hunter regions will benefit from an initial $60 million investment linked to the New England Renewable Energy Zone. The funding will support local infrastructure, services and employment opportunities as renewable energy development progresses.
The State Government says the money is being delivered through the Community and Employment Benefit Program and has been brought forward so projects can begin well before construction starts on major renewable energy developments.
EnergyCo will work with local councils and communities to shape how the funding is allocated, with a focus on projects that deliver long‑term benefits and regional prosperity.
The investment builds on similar programs delivered through the Central‑West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, where funding has supported housing for key workers, water security projects and early education services, as well as targeted employment initiatives.
The New England Renewable Energy Zone is expected to generate more than 6,000 full‑time construction jobs and around 2,000 ongoing operational roles, as part of a broader transformation of NSW’s power system.
