Jessica Rouse was born and bred in the Hunter Valley and has lived in Maitland her whole life.
At 25 years old, this is her second radio gig. Fresh out of the University of Newcastle, with a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Journalism, she landed a 12 month job as a newsreader at 2NURFM in Newcastle.
Jess lives and breathes news and jumped at the chance to talk even more about it at 2NM in February 2018 when she landed the new gig.
Jess is passionate about the Hunter Valley and the people who live in it. She loves telling a story, having a chat to local people and giving air time to the issues people are facing.
One of those in particular is the drought crippling the region. Jess worked with her fellow announcer to create Face of the Farmers, a video series putting the faces of the people being affected by the drought in the Upper Hunter, in the face of as many people as she could.
She’s not too opinionated and always tries to get each side to every story from politics to everyday issues faced by the local community.
Away from the newsroom, Jess giggles too much (even in the newsroom!) and never fails to bring you a smile.
She’s excited to continue living the newsreaders dream in the beautiful Hunter Valley.
