While it might not be a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, for the Merriwa Men's Shed a one-off donation has made a huge difference.

Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen personally delivered a $5,876 one-off donation to the shed this week to help them purchase some equipment they are in need of.

"I was speaking to one of the Merriwa Men's Shed fellows out there and he was just talking about the fact that the Men's Shed needed a bit of an upgrade, some tools and bits and pieces and I said just send me an email,"

"He sent me an email, they told us what they wanted and within a matter of days I was able to obtain the money for them and yesterday I went out there and gave them the formal approval," said Michael Johnsen.

He was able to make a successful representation to Minister for Mental Health Tanya Davies who gave the donation the go ahead.

"While it's not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, but jeez its a lot of money for the Men's Shed for doing what they need to do,"

"It's wonderful to be able to help out people like the Merriwa Men's Shed with something that is a simple but very effective thing," Michael Johnsen said.

“On behalf of the Merriwa Men’s Shed we sincerely thank Michael Johnsen for his representations to Minister Tanya Davies on our behalf for this donation. We are very appreciative of this grant as it will greatly benefit the members of the Merriwa Men’s Shed and the community”, said Stephen Gowlland, Committee Member.
