Singleton Council has closed the Waste Management Facility today after a staff member had possibly been in contact with someone who had tested positive to COVID-19.

The facility was close immediately today after the staff member had possibly had the contact in a personal circumstance.

Council posted on their Facebook page that "staff have been sent home as a precaution and the facility will be deep cleaned today".

There won't be any changes to the kerbside collections today; they will continue to operate as usual.

"The staff member became aware of potential exposure this morning and immediately informed Council’s senior staff. The only time the staff member has been at work since the possible contact was briefly this morning."

Council added that other Council facilities are not affected and continue to operate as usual.

"It is Council’s intention to return to normal operations at the Waste Management Facility as soon as practicable."

"Council’s highest priority is the health and safety of our customers and staff. We appreciate your understanding and support in these challenging circumstances."
