We now know what kind of public holiday we will be getting for the Muswellbrook Cup this year.

Muswellbrook Shire Council has announced that a half day public holiday (from noon onward) has been approved for 27 March 2020.

The race day at Muswellbrook Race Club always draws a large crowd and not just from locals but from many outside of town and further down the Hunter Valley.

The day is expected to be even bigger this year after Racing NSW announced a boost to the prize pool last year.

The Muswellbrook Cup race is now worth $150,000 and the Skellatar Sprint is now $75,000 which is sure to attract many top horses, trainers and jockeys.
