The trial of new trading hours at the Muswellbrook and Denman Waste Management Facilities starts at the end of October.
In August Muswellbrook Shire Council approved to go ahead with a three-month trial for the facilities, subject to review and consultation.
Council has undertaken a consultation and engagement process over the last six weeks, seeking the views and feedback of key stakeholders, including waste facility customers and Council staff.
"The biggest change is the removal of the waste facility closing over the weekend or only having shortened hours," said Council's General Manager Fiona Plesman.
From October 28, the trial will begin and the opening and closing times will be:
Denman Waste Transfer Station
Hours of operation: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Fridays and Saturdays (closed public holidays).
Muswellbrook Waste Management Facility
Hours of operation: 8:00 am– 4:00 pm seven days per week (closed public holidays).
Commercial waste deliveries will be available at the Muswellbrook Waste Management Facility every Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Access to the tip face for commercial waste deliveries will not be available after 3:30 pm.
"If everyone is happy with how the hours are working we will stick with those and we won't change anything but if the feedback is that its proving difficult for whatever reason, we will have a look at that," said Fiona Plesman.
"We're hoping that most people will find these hours satisfactory because we have had quite a lot of consultation with the people who use the facility."
