The Edderton Road Realignment Project is kicking off in Muswellbrook this week.
The work is something Mount Arthur mine had to take up to facilitate the already approved extension of their northern pit, to the west, as the mine moves further away from town.
The new section of road is 4.4 kilometres long and a 1.75 kilometre stretch of the current Edderton Road will also be upgraded in a bid to minimise the impacts of the new alignment.
Construction of the connection between the new alignment and the existing road started today and take around 90 days to complete. Work will be happening between 7am and 5pm Monday to Saturday.
During the construction period of the new section of the road and the intersection upgrade the existing Edderton Road will remain open; and motorists will experience some minor traffic restrictions during the construction of the new section of the road and the intersection upgrade.
