One driver has been airlifted to hospital after a two car accident at Cassilis.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Golden Highway and Ulan Road just before 11:20am today following reports of a crash between two cars.

NSW Ambulance say they treated three patients at the scene, a male driver in his 50s and a 16-year-old who were in the same car and another man in his 60s who was the driver of the other car.

None have life threatening injuries but two were taken via road to the Dubbo Base Hospital and a third was flown by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service to the Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital.

Westbound lanes of the highway were affected and as of 1:30pm contraflow was in place but traffic was easily getting through.

The intersection should be back to normal shortly.
