People and puppies escape uninjured after a suspicious house fire at Muswellbrook


People, and puppies have escaped a suspicious house fire at Muswellbrook uninjured. 

Fire crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Aberdeen, Denman and Muswellbrook as well as other emergency services were called to a house on Buddens Lane just after 8 o'clock last night following numerous reports of a house on fire.  

Crews arrived to find smoke billowing out of the home and four people who were inside managed to escape uninjured, but as fire fighters were working to put out the blaze they were told there was a litter of puppies inside. 

Crews conducted a search and rescue and saved the nine puppies from the laundry. 

The rear section of the house was significantly damaged and Hunter Valley Police District officers have established a crime scene and are interviewing witnesses to work out what happened in the lead up to the blaze. 

The damage is estimated to be approximately $300,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown; police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Muswellbrook Police Station on 6542 6999 or to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
