A man has been flown to hospital after a car accident at Muswellbrook this morning.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway near Thomas Mitchell Drive at 5:50am following reports of a crash between two vehicles.
Hunter Valley Police District (HVPD) officers say a Ford Falcon turned right from Thomas Mitchell Drive to travel south on the highway when the driver drove into the path of a northbound Toyota Prado towing a trailer.
The 38-year-old male driver of the Ford Falcon sustained a broken leg and has been flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
The occupants of the Prado were shaken but suffered no injuries.
The northbound lanes of the highway was affected for a couple of hours this morning but should now be back to normal.
