A man and his jeep have had a lucky escape after colliding with a passenger train at Scone this morning.
At around 6:30am emergency services were called to the trainline south of Scone after reports a car had collided with a passenger train.
The driver was lucky to escape uninjured after his vehicle clipped the very end of the train.
Hunter Valley Police District officers say the driver who wished to remain anonymous was going across the tracks on the private property when he changed his mind and reversed back over the tracks.
Trains were suspended between Scone and Muswellbrook after the incident and buses called in to replace passenger trains heading to Newcastle from the Upper Hunter.
