A train has derailed near Denman.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation has confirmed that there was an incident on the Hunter Valley rail network on the Ulan line reported at around 3:20am today.

There have been no reported injuries and train services are currently suspended between Baerami and Ulan.

"The incident has been reported to independent transport safety investigators and the incident site is currently quarantined awaiting for their arrival," an ARTC spokesperson said.

"There is track damage that will need to be repaired with early recovery and repair planning initiated,"

"The full extent of the damage will be known once the site is released to ARTC and the train and wagons are removed from the site. Approximately 6 wagons have derailed."

It's understood it was a Pacific National coal train that derailed.
