Drenching rain for some of the worst drought hit regions in the Upper Hunter

Some of the worst hit drought-affected areas of the Upper Hunter received a much needed drenching of rain at the weekend.

It's been described as some of the best rainfall in years and creeks that haven't flowed for a very long time now have water running through them.

It was ex-Tropical Cyclone Trevor that was to thank for the dumping of rain on Friday night and into Saturday morning and some of the rainfall numbers recorded include:

- Cassilis 128mm

- Merriwa 100mm

- Bunnan 91mm

- Scone 66mm

- McCullys Gap 82mm
