Rural Crime Investigators are investigating shocking cases of steer being illegally shot in the Upper Hunter.
Investigators say during the evening of Wednesday November 28th, an Angus cross steer was shot with an unknown calibre firearm on a Gumman Road property in Merriwa.
The offender/s allegedly entered the paddock and butchered the animal with all four quarters being cut from the carcass.
