Coolmore Stud's generous donation to Rural Aid has delivered hay to farmers in the Upper Hunter.

The horse stud based in Jerrys Plains donated $154,000 to the Buy A Bale campaign which delivered 16 semi-trailers full of hay to the region this week.

Tom Moore from the stud said they were able to deliver four truckloads to properties on Wybong Road just outside of Muswellbrook today.

"It went really well, there was a good representation of farmers from right across the area, and it was just great to be a part of, there were some pretty emotional people out there and it's just good to give back to the community," he said.

"The Magnier family, the owner of Coolmore have been farmers dating back to the 1850s and they really understand and have been through the tough times themselves so we are really fortunate to be able to be in a position to give back to the community."

"This is the worst drought in over 100 years and people really are feeling the effects of it so we are just really honoured to be able to give back to our friends and clients throughout the region."

Tom said they hope they've been able to relieve a little bit of pressure for the local farmers in the Upper Hunter who have benefited from the hay drops over the last week.

"They are under a huge amount of pressure at the moment and we understand that. It was great to see the smiles on their faces this morning as they picked up the hay and hopefully, it can go some way to easing the pressure on them and their family,"

"We'd really like to thank the people that helped out in raising the money, we auctioned off three stallion nominations."

"We really appreciate their support," said Tom.
