Plans to create a new Council Chambers where the I-G-A Supermarket use to be in Muswellbrook have moved one step closer to reality overnight.
Councillors voted to endorse a recommendation from staff to lodge a development application for the project following the drawing up of a draft concept plan.
Under the plan a new Council Chambers, kitchenette,, meeting room and Mayoral Office would be constructed in the old supermarket space. A cafe and entry from Bridge Street, a takeaway Food shop and a commercial office would also be created.
A report prepared for Councillors stated the construction project could be funded within the existing council budget.
Mayor Steve Reynolds said the detailed costing will now be undertaken as part of the D-A process.
