Not a good weekend for Singleton in Round Eight of the AFL Hunter Central Coast Competition.

In the Black Diamond Cup….The Roosters started strong against Warners Bay to lead at half time but the Bulldogs came back in the third and fourth quarters to win 13.8.86 to 9.8.62.

Singleton’s Black Diamond Shield outfit had a day to forget…..comprehensively beaten by Newcastle City 24.20.164 to nil.

In the Women’s Black Diamond Plate competition Muswellbrook were outclassed by Newcastle City.

The Blues won 11.10.76 to 1.1.7 at Weeraman Field.

RUGBY LEAGUE
Denman has shot to the top of the Group 21 ladder after a last minute win over Greta Branxton at Denman Oval yesterday afternoon.

The Devils crossed for a try in the dying stages of the clash giving them the 22-18 victory and outright competition lead on 11 points.

RUGBY UNION

A great weekend for the Singleton Bulls in the Newcastle Suburban rugby union competition.

The Bulls Reds smashed Pokolbin at Drain Oval in Cessnock 47-points-to-13.

The Bulls Black side made it two wins in a row.

They defeated Singleton Army at the Barracks 40-29.

Cooks Hill made easy work of Medowie 38-7 and Nelson Bay downed the Griffins 21-14.

Two tries in the final ten minutes was not enough for Scone to take home a victory in the Central North Rugby clash against Quirindi.

The Lions scored twice in the first five minutes to set the tone against the Brumbies to win 45-points-to-26.

The Brumbies Reserves narrowly lost to the Lions 26-21 at Scone Rugby Club.

But in the Women’s Tens tournament Scone were victorious, beating Quirindi 36-24.

Jordyn Snape scored two tries for the Brumbies.

FOOTBALL

Singleton has continued its return to winning form in the Northern League One Football Competition.

The Strikers beat Wallsend 2-nil on Saturday afternoon at Howe Park.

Joel Barner and Marlow Court-Kriesch the goal scorers.

Singleton’s reserve grade also won.

The beat the Red Devils 3-1.
