Police said they have dealt with a group of criminals responsible for a big percentage of thefts from vehicles in Muswellbrook.
New stats for the crime show a 133 per cent rise over the two years to March 2022.
But acting Hunter Valley Police District Commander, Superintendent Jo Schultz said a small group of people responsible for the majority of these thefts have been arrested.
"Unfortunately in the Muswellbrook area we had quite a significant outbreak of property theft committed by a small group of young people," she said.
"Fortunately now most of those responsible have been caught and are now before the justice system."
