The Hunter Valley's top cop has defended their response to life threatening calls in the last financial year.
New stats obtained by the State Opposition under F-O-I show 20 calls for urgent across the region in 2020/21 help were not responded to by police within the set benchmark of 12 minutes.
But Region Commander, Superintendent Tracey Chapman says it's not a significant number when you consider how many calls police in the Hunter Valley receive.
"In saying that it is not a significant number 20 out of well over 2000 just since July last year you know in the scheme of things may not seem significant but I understand and appreciate every call is important and we have police operating 24/7 across our district to ensure we respond to those jobs as quickly as possible."
