The Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation have organised two walk-in vaccination clinics with one kick-starting today in Muswellbrook.

The vaccine hub is targeted for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community but are welcoming everyone who wants to roll up their sleeve.

The clinic will be held at the GB Clinic Outreach on Francis Street and will run between 9.30am-4pm.

Meanwhile, a second vaccination hub is opening in Singleton on Friday October 15.

It will be held at John Street and be available from 10.30am-3pm.

Ungooroo is also encouraging the Indigenous community to book into their six-week long hubs that operate every Wednesday and Thursday by appointment.

CEO Taasha Layer understands there is a substantial amount of hesitancy surrounding the vaccines but wants the community to phone in and talk to their GPs by phone for any concerns.

"There have been 2820 confirmed COVID-19 infections and 863 active cases in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

"So that's why we really need to get a handle on the vaccination rate and increasing that.

"If anybody is concerned or have hesitancy, and we understand some people can be a little bit fearful, we just encourage them to call on that main number and have a chat with our GPs," Ms Layer said.
