The Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended nearly half a dozen serious missions over the weekend.

At about 9am on Saturday the helicopter was called to Merriwa to assist after a man in his 60s sustained serious injuries after falling from his horse.

The animal then rolled on to the man compounding his multiple injuries.

He was treated on scene by local emergency services and the Helicopter’s Critical Care Medical Team before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital.

The man was last reported to be in a stable condition.

There was a fatal motorbike accident the helicopter was called to on Saturday morning at Laguna.

A ute and a motorbike collided near the Great North Road and Murray's Run Road in Laguna.

The 49-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics, but was pronounced deceased a short time later - he was riding in northerly direction when he collided with a ute in the south bound lane.

On Saturday night the helicopter was also called to Monkerai near Dungog after a woman in her 40s was seriously injured when her motor vehicle was impacted by a kangaroo.

She was treated on scene for multiple leg and facial injuries before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
