The Upper Hunter by-election is now a nine horse race.

Today, the Greens put forward their candidate in Upper Hunter Shire Councillor Sue Abbott.

Sue has lived in Scone since 1983 and was elected to Council in 2016

She said today, "she is excited to be the Greens candidate for the Upper Hunter and looking forward to getting out and speaking with locals during the campaign".

Also today, former Dungog Mayor Tracy Norman will also be contesting the by-election on May 22.

Tracy was Mayor at Dungog for two-and-half years and resigned from her position earlier this year.

The May 22 by-election was called after former Nationals MP Michael Johnsen resigned last month following allegations of sexual assault, that Mr Johnsen denies.
