The 27-year-old man has now been charged with two counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail to face Muswellbrook Local Court today where police will allege in court the man stabbed a 30-year-old woman several times to the abdomen and right eye, before stabbing a 28-year-old woman to the upper arm and face.
HVPD Acting Commander, Superintendent Michael Gorman has told Radio Hunter Valley all three people involved were known to one another.
"It would appear there had been an argument involving a male and other people at the residence," he said.
"Police when they attended were confronted by the 27-year-old male who resisted arrest, he was tasered, sprayed, a wrestle ensued, he was then arrested and taken to hospital and treated for some minor injuries."
"I would like to praise the police in what was an extremely volatile situation; when they attended they followed their training, acted very professionally and were able to detain the male without injury to any other people including young children who were present at the location."
"So a very volatile situation that could've ended in a very different way," said Superintendent Gorman.
The man involved has faced court where he did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused.
The matter has been adjourned until March 22 at Muswellbrook Local Court.
A man has been tasered and two women are recovering from stab wounds after an altercation in Muswellbrook overnight.
Hunter Valley Police District (HVPD) officers were called to the home on the Pacific Way at Muswellbrook about 7pm and found a 27-year-old man in the front yard allegedly armed with a pair of scissors, carrying a baby.
HVPD officers repeatedly directed the man to release the child; however, he allegedly refused.
As the man briefly put the 11-month-old girl on the ground, police deployed a Taser to affect his arrest.
A 30-year-old Macksville woman was airlifted from the scene to John Hunter Hospital with a stab wound to the right eye with scissors and a 28-year-old Muswellbrook woman is also undergoing hospital treatment for a stab wound to her left upper arm and face.
Five children aged between 11 months and seven were at the home at the time but were not physically injured.
