A woman is dead following a two-vehicle smash at Martindale.
Police say emergency services were called to Martindale Road at 3:30pm yesterday following reports of a crash.
“Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District attended and found a car and B-Double truck had collided, trapping the driver and passenger of the car,” police said in a statement.
“The female passenger of the car was trapped for some time before being freed.
“She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before she was taken to Denman Hospital, where she died.”
The woman is yet to be formally identified.
“The driver of the car, an 81-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.”
The driver of the truck – a 43-year-old man – was not injured.
He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
