A 33-year-old Denman man is scheduled to appear in court today after police allegedly seized multiple firearms, including a homemade handgun, from a home in the Hunter Valley yesterday.
The arrest came after officers from the Hunter Valley Proactive Crime Team attended a property on Palace Street, Denman, at approximately 9 a.m. yesterday (Thursday, September 4, 2025). Police were at the home to serve a Firearms and Weapons Prohibition Order on the man.
Following the service of the order, a subsequent search of the premises allegedly uncovered and led to the seizure of several firearms, ammunition, and various parts. The haul included a homemade handgun and four gel blaster firearms.
The man was arrested on-site and transported to Muswellbrook Police Station. He has been charged with six offenses, including:
- Possess more than 3 unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited/pistol
- Acquire firearm part without authority to do so
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Acquire pistol part without authority to do so, and
- Attempt to manufacture pistol without licence/permit.
He was refused bail and is set to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Friday, September 5, 2025).
