Upper Hunter teacher vacancies fall

The Upper Hunter public school network is starting to travel in the right direction when it comes to the teaching crisis.

Official government stats obtained by the Hunter Valley Newsroom show a drop in the number of teacher vacancies of more than 20 percent over the past 12 months.

Education Minister Prue Car said a large part of this has been recruitment at Muswellbrook High School who now have only two vacancies compared to nine a year ago.

Singleton High and Singleton Public had two vacancies each last year but have started 2024 fully staffed.
