The Upper Hunter has recorded one of the largest rental increases in regional New South Wales, with new figures showing double-digit growth driven by strong local employment.
According to Domain’s latest Rent Report, the average weekly rent in the Upper Hunter has climbed 12.2 per cent to $550 — the third-highest increase across regional NSW.
In Muswellbrook, rents are up 10.7 per cent to an average of $570, ranking sixth statewide.
Experts say the surge is linked to employment opportunities in industries such as mining, energy and infrastructure, which continue to attract workers and tighten the housing market.
Local real estate agents report ongoing pressure on supply, with demand for homes outpacing availability across both Muswellbrook and surrounding Upper Hunter communities.
