Upper Hunter nurses have walked off the job for 24 hours following a breakdown in pay negotiations.
The frontline health workers will board a bus and head to Sydney to join their colleagues from across the state at a mass protest rally in front of Parliament House.
Nurses are seeking a 15 percent pay rise. The government is only offering an interim three percent while talks continue.
