Motorists in the Singleton region are being warned to expect delays as major construction continues on the Singleton Bypass. Transport for NSW has confirmed works at Whittingham and Glenridding will affect traffic over coming weeks as crews prepare for the next stage of the $700 million project.
At Whittingham, out‑of‑hours work is underway from March 16 through to April 2, weather permitting. The work involves barrier installation, asphalting, line marking and signage in preparation for a traffic switch onto part of the new 8.2‑kilometre bypass. Once complete, northbound vehicles will veer left onto the newly constructed section before passing under a new bridge and re‑joining the New England Highway near Waddells Lane.
Motorists can expect lane closures, a reduced speed limit and delays of up to ten minutes. Access to Newington Lane will be via a service lane connecting to the New England Highway.
Further south, Putty Road at Glenridding will undergo realignment work from March 20 to 23. Crews will carry out utilities relocations, earthworks, demolition and replacement of guard rails, footpaths, fencing and street lighting. Milling and asphalting of the existing road will also take place, along with the installation of temporary barriers and new line marking.
The Glenridding works will result in lane closures and a two‑way shuttle flow arrangement, with delays of up to five minutes. Once the works are complete, traffic will move onto a new section of Putty Road that connects directly to the bypass.
The bypass is expected to be completed in late 2026.
