A pledge for ‘real transparency’ to ratepayers in Denman on how much of their money spent is spent by council in the town.
Councillor Jeff Drayton is promising to publish the real figures in the annual report if he is re-elected at this month’s local government poll.
The move has been prompted by some so-called misinformation by other candidates ahead of the September 14 election.
Jeff Drayton is annoyed hearing some candidates are taking credit for directing ratepayers cash towards major local projects like the Heritage Village and Merton Street Upgrade, which were actually funded by government grants.
Councillor Drayton said the current method doesn’t distinguish where the funding is from.
