Murrurundi residents can now access a modern, purpose-built facility with the official opening of the town’s new Youth and Community Centre.
Funded through the NSW Government’s Regional Youth Investment Program, the centre provides a safe and accessible space for young people while also supporting the wider community.
Replacing the former youth centre, the new building includes insulated and air-conditioned activity spaces for programs, games, art and life skills, as well as a dedicated office for youth workers to provide confidential support. A fully equipped kitchen and laundry have been added to support life skills training, with accessible amenities and improved storage built in.
The wider community will also benefit from the addition of a bookable meeting room with a kitchenette, air conditioning and a smart TV, plus extra office space for visiting service providers such as NDIS, mental health and community organisations. Shared facilities will also be available for local groups and events, ensuring the building serves as a central hub for Murrurundi.

Upper Hunter Shire Mayor Maurice Collison welcomed the opening of the new centre.
“This is a fantastic day for Murrurundi. The Youth and Community Centre provides a safe, welcoming space for young people and also brings essential services closer to home,” he said.
“Council is proud to see this project completed and extends its thanks to the NSW Government for making it possible through the Regional Youth Investment Program.”
The centre is now open and in use by youth programs, visiting services and community groups — marking an important milestone for the town’s future.
