Muswellbrook Shire Council is calling on local operators to register their interest in delivering bulky waste pickup services, in a move Mayor Jeff Drayton says could open the door for a new small business in the region.
Council has released a non-binding expression of interest to test what’s available in the local market. Mayor Drayton said the move was not intended to replace the Shire’s existing waste contractor, who would continue to play a part in bulky waste pickup across the Shire.
“The expression of interest is intended just to test the local market,” Mayor Drayton said.
“So if I get anyone out there locally who thinks they can perform that bulky waste pickup, and of course the added flexibility that Council want to build into that bulky waste pickup, the expression of interest is out now.”
Mayor Drayton said the opportunity could be well suited to a local operator looking to start a small business, adding that the process was non-binding at this stage. Further information, including how to register interest, is available through Council’s website here.
