Another headache for the Upper Hunter Shire Council with a push for Merriwa to become a stand-alone local government area again.
The local branch of the New South Wales Farmers Association is calling for the town to de-amalgamate and reform its own council.
Merriwa Shire Council merged with Scone and Murrurundi in 2004.

The Upper Hunter Shire Mayor said he supports seeking public feedback on whether Merriwa residents want to go it alone again.
Maurice Collison said Merriwa is well looked after being part of the Upper Hunter Shire.
The council will conduct a written-only community consultation process on the issue.
