A Murrurundi resident believes many things in the town have gone backwards under the current Upper Hunter Shire Council.
Businessman Peter McGill is one of 11 people to put their hand up to run for one of 9 positions in the local government election on Saturday September 14.
Mr McGill said there’s long list of issues including the dam, youth centre, the causeway, the suspension bridge and of course the proposed 33 percent rate increase.

He said many locals feel they are just paid lip service from Scone.
Mr McGill said he hopes there is enough diversity on the new council to end the games that have occurred during the current term.
