Nationals Leader David Littleproud has revealed a private family matter contributed to an embarrassing incident in Canberra for Barnaby Joyce.
The New England MP cited mixing medication and alcohol for the event in which he was filmed lying intoxicated on an inner city footpath.
Mr Littleproud said he had spoken to Mr Joyce and urged him to take some leave so he can sort out his personal issues.
