Home prices in the Hunter Valley, excluding Newcastle, dipped slightly in August, but remain more than 5 per cent higher than a year ago, according to the realestate.com.au Home Price Report released today.
The report found regional NSW home prices held flat over the month as a whole, sitting 4.8 per cent higher than August last year, though prices remain 0.6 per cent below their peak.
In the Hunter Valley excluding Newcastle, prices fell 0.09 per cent over the month and 1.12 per cent over the quarter, but remain up 5.04 per cent year-on-year. The median home value in the region now sits at $769,000.
The figures stand in contrast to Sydney, where home prices fell for a sixth consecutive month in August, down 0.3 per cent and now sitting 4.9 per cent below the city’s peak. Annually, Sydney home prices are 3.6 per cent lower than in August last year.
