HSC written exams begin today, with Year 12 students across the Upper Hunter sitting English Paper 1 this morning at 9:50am.

Around 80,000 students across New South Wales will sit 124 written exams over an 18-day period, finishing with Physics on Thursday 5 November.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority, close to half of the cohort will already have completed an HSC exam, with thousands of students having sat practical and performance exams in Term 3 and more than 50 language courses examined in oral exams from August.

This year’s cohort will be the first to sit the new Health and Movement Science exam, which replaces the PDHPE syllabus. It is also the last year students will be examined on the current English and Mathematics syllabuses, with new syllabuses to be examined from next year.

HSC results will be released on Wednesday 16 December.
